First solar power plant
Santo Domingo – President Danilo Medina on Tuesday inaugurated the Dominican Republic's first solar powered energy plant, a $110 million center in the east town of Monte Plata.
The plant had been built by the Taiwanese company General Energy Solutions.
In the inauguration ceremony, Jean A. Rodriguez, the executive director for the Dominican Republic's Export and Investment Center, stated that it's "evident with this particular considerable financial investment that practically ... the entire world has its eye fixed in the Dominican Republic as a good investment location."
The plant can establish 300 direct jobs and 1, 000 indirect people and it is Taiwan's biggest financial investment within the Caribbean nation.
"we are incorporating so much value to the Dominican Republic as a location for financial investment that investors ... are crossing the globe ... to invest right here, " Rodriguez stated.
Conversely, he said that the nation is probably the 10 top nations in Latin The united states for foreign investment in green power and is the #1 country in Caribbean.
"right here, all good things have actually converged for alternate power sector, including solar power, wind and hydraulic power, " he emphasized.
Meanwhile, General Electric Solutions president Quincy Lin said that the plant's building has been a "great possibility" for Taiwan and "brings success to the people."
